Last weekend I decided to do something I wouldn’t usually do. First was to attend an event where I was invited but I didn’t know anyone in person, the second was to go and zip line at Kereita Forest with strangers. Zip lining has been on my bucket list for so long , so when I saw, on Facebook, that Reflex Safaris were advertising a weekend gate away, I quickly contacted them and I have no regrets whatsoever. see bucket list here.

I woke up at 05:20 in readiness for what would be an awesome day, prepared then arrived in town,at the pick up location at 06:50 am.

We had some delays but managed to leave Nairobi at around 08:30 am . I knew no one in the tour bus but I was able to make friends as the guys at the bus were so friendly. The group was just awesome.

Our first stop over was at the Rift valley view point where we took lots of pictures .

We then arrived at The Forest , had a team building to bond and familiarise ourselves with each other before we began our hike.

I was ill prepared for the hike but walking in the beautiful forest made me forget about my struggle. I was awed by the beautiful serenity. The forest is alive and astir with life. A deep green carpet covered the entire area. This was the most beautiful place I have been to in a long time. Walking in the forest made me feel close to God and appreciate nature even more.

After the hike, we went to The Forest Hotel where we took more pictures as we waited for our turn to zip line. It poured for a while but not even the rain would stop us from ziplining.

When the rain eased up, we began to practice for the zip line before going for the real zip line.

The staff at The Forest took us through the safety measures, and addressed our concerns before releasing us for the main zip line . We did two zip lines which were 2 kilo meters each.

I still can’t explain what I felt when I was floating in the air, sliding through a metal rode while wind tried to push me aside. I was high, above the trees. This is a feeling I will remember for a lifetime.

After ticking that( Zip lining) off my bucket list,it was time to make merry. We danced, took photos, had a meal and then cut cake for June Babies.

”Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

I would definitely recommend you to visit The Forest in Kereita. Choose Reflex safaris as your travel partner.

Here’s to trying out new things, adventure, making new friends and learning new things.
