Hey there, i hope this finds you well. See how i started this post. It feels like i am writing an official letter.

Anyway, i am glad to be back here tonight and i want to let you in on what’s been going on with me this month. This is not my usual taking stock. Change is good.

Wellness, I came to realize, will not happen by accident. It must be a daily practice, especially for those of us who are more susceptible to the oppressiveness of the world.”

What did i accomplish? I read 3 books to the end. My life in crime by John Kariamiti, The River between by Ngugi Wa Thiongo and The River and the source by Margaret Ogola. It feels so refreshing reading content from Kenyan writers. John Kariamitis book took me back to Highschool where i first read it but when i read it again it just opened my mind to a lot of stuff that I realise I did not understand back then. How intelligent young men can be lured to crimes. How a single mistake or choice can altar the course of ones life.

I am currently reading Half of a yellow sun by Chimamanda Ngozi .

What did i learn? I have had a lot to learn about my career. Last week i had a one week intense training program that i must say enlightened me. There are things in my field of work that i would never know had it not been for the training . I feel more empowered after learning.

I also learnt that cow peas (kunde) seedlings makes a delicious meal. So i am done with beans for now. For 25 Plus years and i never knew that kunde seedlings can be cooked!

What held me back? What holds me back are financial constraints which is not really an excuse because i just fail to plan and finds other means to make it work.

What are my ”final four”‘ for the month. Final four means my four biggest goals. My four biggest goals for this month were to loose weight, reduce intake of wheat, sugar and milk, brisk walking and reading at least two books. There is no significant change in my body especially after falling ill last week and feeling a little bit under the weather a couple of times in the course of the month. But i have lost some weight and inches all thanks to the illness but i have not regained my strength back.

I have done well in reducing wheat intake and milk and also i read more than three books.

My biggest goal in April would be to take care of myself physically, spiritually and mentally plus read books that will inspire me.

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
Hariet Tubman

What habit will aid me the most? For me to get back to shape i will need to let my body recover. Brisk walking will help clear my mind , help me get in shape and bring back my strength. I will not be doing any intensive exercise. I will listen to content that will nourish me spiritually and entertain positive vibes.

What is my focus word? My focus word is “grateful. ” I am grateful for my life, my family, my career, my neighborhood, for doctors, and this stage in my life. I will be grateful for everything. I say a word of gratitude every day.

What would you like to say farewell to and leave behind? I am saying farewell to negative vibes which has even caused me nightmares. I will leave behind fear and not worry about things i cannot control. I am saying farewell to feeling inadequate because that’s not who i am.

What are you most grateful for? I am most grateful for my family. I do not know where i would be without them.. My parents and siblings just make life worthwhile. Knowing that i have people who love me and always want the best for me means a lot to me.

“When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself. “Tecumseh

Where did you give the most of yourself? I gave the most of myself last week by trying to take in all we were taught while training and preparing for exams. I don’t take knowledge handed over to me for granted. This knowledge will stay with me forever regardless of what happens to me in my career.

What were the best feeling moments? I have had plenty feel good moments but one that is most recent is meeting and hanging out with my campus friend. Time really flies and because this is life people move on to do other things hence we tend to loose most of our friends along the way.

It’s always great to know that even after decades later when you meet your friends, they are still amazing humans. And you both can still share laughter, catch up, and be excited at seeing how much you both have grown over the years.

How balanced is my life? The truth is i don’t feel like my life is truly balanced. I feel like i am in some sort of limbo but i am yet to figure out whatever is missing or i am just being adamant at admitting some things. But this does not mean that i don’t love my life. I love where i am at right now. I have come a long way and i am still have a long way to go.

How much i’m i enjoying my life? I am enjoying everyday and taking it a day at a time. No single day passes without me smiling. Not even when i’m writhing in pain. There is always something that makes me smile. A memory maybe. A weird joke from a colleague. A song that uplifts my soul. A dance move. A crazy idea running through my mind.

How i’m i making my own meaning in life? By spreading positive messages. Spreading information that uplifts, influences people positively, speaking positivity into my life and another’s , serving people and so much more.

In my vision of success for myself, what will i be doing, what will i have and who will i be?

I will still be Marion Malika because that will never change regardless of my situation. I will probably be inspiring the girl child who feels stuck , the boy child who has lost hope, the youth to live to their fullest potential. Making a difference a person at a time through my words, social media posts, actions, my story, my authentic self and through my journey. I will have a heart full of joy, peace and love. I will not be a limited edition. I will own everything i ever wished for. I will be living an amazing life because i believe i am destined to live an amazing life. I will be living to my fullest potential.

This kinda feels like a therapy session for me. Taking stock is very important for everyone because it gives you a sense of who you are, who you want to be and how to get there. Through these questions, you get to analyse your life, truthfully examine it and make changes to make you a better person. I strongly recommend you to try this at home and experience the relief of finally figuring things out.

I got some of these questions from the globe and mail and dummies.com.

Please feel to use the questions above while making your own taking stock and let me know how you feel about it.

Otherwise i hope you had and amazing month, and if not do not give up because better days are coming.

Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen… yourself, right now, right down here on Earth.”
Bradley Whitford

Sending you love and light.

See you in April. Have a very fruitful and blessed April.
